Have you ever thought how much your opposable thumb helps you every day? The 10th graders do! They tried 6 different tasks without the use of their thumbs and compared how long it took to do the same thing with their thumbs. This is one of the adaptations that has allowed humans to become so versatile.

The 3rd & 4th graders built Leprechaun traps in SmartLab! The traps were built from (mostly) recyclables and all looked fab! The 4th graders included one simple machine, and all the traps had so much green! The sneaky Leprechaun got away quick, but left treats at all of the traps where he made a trip!

What is better than starting off a Monday with pie! March 14th, 3.14, is a special day in the math world. Pi (π) is a mathematical constant. It is defined as the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. It is also a irrational number, meaning its exact value is inherently unknowable. Pi day was on Sunday, so we celebrated it on March 15th, Monday. The students had the choice between Chocolate, Pumpkin, or Apple Pie.

A Message From Central Valley Health: Central Valley will receive Pfizer vaccines this week. Since this is the only vaccine currently licensed for those 16 and older we feel that it is appropriate to target that age group this week. We are planning a Pfizer vaccination clinic on Thursday, March 18 from 3 to 5 at the Jamestown Civic Center. Parents should register their child at the link below for an appointment – the on-line registration includes the parents’ signed consent and would then allow the student to come to the clinic alone without a parent present if desired. Many student are considered essential workers in our community. 1st dose Pfizer COVID vaccination clinic Thursday, March 18 @ 3:00 – 5:00pm Jamestown Civic Center Exchequer Room (use NORTH entrance) Link to register for appointment: https://www.ndvax.org//reg/7962158660 *Please use Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browsers when registering
